Peer Support Groups

Carer Gateway Services

Carers NT facilitate weekly In-Person Peer Support Groups through the Carer Gateway which give carers the opportunity to discuss their caring role and experiences. It allows them to have some time out from their caring role while accessing the group and listening to other carers stories. It gives carers the opportunity to connect with a supportive community, and who knows you might make a new friend or two.

GROW

Our meetings take place in a safe, caring and confidential way, whether the meetings are face-to-face, or online, known as eGrow groups. Our members meet weekly and follow the Group Method. The meetings run for about two hours and the groups vary in size from 3-10 members. We are a peer-to-peer led support group, where newer members are supported and mentored by experienced members who have worked through the Grow Program and have taken on a leadership role within the group.

Multiple Sclerosis Peer Support Group – Darwin and Palmerston

Our Darwin Peer Support group describe themselves as a diverse group of all ages and backgrounds who are brought together by MS.

The group meets every few months over coffee, lunch or dinner, and members also catch up separately. There is also a private Facebook group where people can connect, organise catch ups and share information.  New members are always welcome.  The group is a great way to connect with others who understand the complexities about living with MS, especially in the tropics.  We encourage anyone living with MS, or their loved ones, to come and check us out.

Contact your local Darwin coordinator, Sarah Skopellos, on 0439 885 604 or sshoobie@gmail.com for more information.

Visual Impairment Peer Support Group

Please take the time to consider joining the Visual Impairment Peer Support group. We meet regularly and for some this will be their first chance to introduce themselves to the group, but I assure you it should be considered an informal opportunity to meet  and share your views and understand what we are looking to bring to the community.  Please feel free to contact me if you need more information. Feel free to share and RSVP if you are planning to join us.
